Farm Tractor Restoration

2016

Today was the first session of the year with

 the Youth Tractor Restoration group.

 We had a good bunch of boys and one girl

 total of 12. This group had the Jet Star 3

 disassembled, repairs assessed, and a

 parts list done in 3 hours. Al and Bruce

 enjoy working with this ambitious group 

 of kids, looking forward to the next session

 Feb. 27th

Another good session with the youth group

 Saturday, repairs done are front wheel

 bearings repacked with new seals,

 carburetor rebuilt, new manifold installed

 and extending the repairs needed are

 brake discs and brake shaft seals. New to

 the group (Joe) found fun with a little

 hard work and getting his hands dirty.

 Next session March 12th.

The Youth Tractor Restoration Program

 had another session today working on the

 MM jet star 3 super. The kids worked on

 brakes, brake shaft seals, new front tires

 mounted, compleat ignition tune up,

 engine cover gaskets and rear wheel

 adjustment. The kids work well together,

 Al and Bruce each have one or two groups

 of kids on multiple repair projects. At this

 time we are on schedule to compleat the

 tractor for the 3rd weekend in April. Next

 session March 26th.

Saturday was another progressive day with

 the youth group. mechanical repairs are

 done the kids started the tractor, made

 adjustments, checked for leaks and next

 session we start working on preparations 

 for painting. only one month until dead

 line it looks like we will make it. next

 session April 9th.

Saturday was another progressive day with

 the youth group. The final repair's were

 done and a few of the kids had the

 opportunity to try a hand at sandblasting.

 Now it's time to prepare for painting this

 week. Next Saturday the youth group will

 reassemble and finish the MM Jetstar 3.

 and will start it's summer tour April 22nd

 at Le Sueur MN.

Saturday was the last day for the

Youth Tractor Restoration Program this

 year. Thay had finished assembling the

1968 Minneapolis Moline Jetstar 3 Super

 after it was painted last week. The tractor

 went together well with minor issues. The

 kids learned how to assemble a tractor in

 the correct order.

 Al and Bruce enjoyed working with this

 group and had alot of fun as always. The

 kids can"t wait to see what next year's

 project will be.

                                              2015

 Youth Tractor Restoration Program started on the

1962 CASE 430 for the Almelund Threshing Show on

Saturday. With 11 kids, Al and Bruce were able to keep

them all busy with pre-inspection of the tractor,

removal of sheet metal panels, wheel weights, loader

brackets, fuel tank and seat. After tear down the youth

group evaluated parts and repairs needed. The kids

will begin repairs next session. Feb. 28th.

Saturday the Youth Tractor restoration group was busy working on the CASE 430. Removing rear axel sleeves, front timing gear cover and valve cover to repair leaks. Also front wheel bearings, races and seals were replaced. manifold was removed to have machine work done. This is the largest group we have had and they are doing a good job. next session will be March 14th

Saturday was a progressive day with the youth group. The CASE is back on it's wheels. In addition for the first time we had a 15 year old girl join us and did a great job as well as the boys. Bruce's group reassembled rear axel housings, wheels and PTO assembly. Al's group installed timing gear cover, water pump and front axel assembly. The tractor is coming along without any mechanical surprises at this time. Next session will be March 28th.

The Youth Tractor Restoration group got together on Saturday, 14 kids showed and another girl from North Branch joined us in the fun dismounting the old tires and mounting the new ones. A challenge was made mounting rear tires between parents with experience and the teens saying they were faster, Experience won. Bruce and his group repaired the worn seat suspension, Al and his group finished assembling manifolds, starter and mount new front tires. Tractor is now ready for the painting process.

Saturday the Youth Tractor Restoration group got together for the final assembly of the CASE 430. Al and Bruce were impressed with the hard work these boys and girls put into this project. All the kids did a very good job and were fun to work with. The CASE will make it's first summer tour appearance at the La Sueur MN. tractor swap meet April 24th, 25th, 26th.
